Terms and Conditions of Use

The following are the terms and conditions of participating in JDCSnet. By registering for a JCDSnet account, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to abide by these terms and conditions.

Access

JCDSnet is intended for the use of adult members of the JCDS community. JCDSnet accounts may be used only by their owners. To protect our site, please do not allow anyone else to access JCDSnet using your account. Take care, for example, to log out when done, especially when using a shared computer.

Moderation

Submissions by users to JCDSnet are reviewed by a moderator before they are visible to other users.

No Anonymity

Anonymous participation in JCDSnet is not permitted. Users are asked to provide their real names upon registration, though they may also choose a different user name. Real names are visible to other users.

Content

In general, follow the Golden Rule and write with honesty, tact and sensitivity to the feelings of others. Always ask, how would it feel to be the recipient of the message?
In this vein, please do not post abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, lascivious or any other offensive material. Tip: is this a message you would want to deliver live to a full audience? Tasteful humor is always therapeutic, but beware of sarcasm or jokes that might be misunderstood.
This is not the medium to either seek or provide comments about JCDS teachers or administrators, or to express particular concerns about a specific class occurrence or curriculum.
Ensure that copyright and other intellectual property laws are observed. Please do not reprint a protected work without the author's permission and be mindful of providing references where appropriate.
Keep your submission within the scope of the subject under discussion.
Refrain from engaging in ad hominem attacks (character assassination), loshon hara (steer away from gossip and malicious comments), or comments that may be so interpreted.
Arguments and disagreements of a personal nature must be conducted privately. Beware of unnecessarily inflammatory comments or "code words" which may be misconstrued, no matter how honestly passionate you feel about the issue.
Do not publicly quote private email without the author's permission. Likewise, do not publish anyone's e-mail address, telephone number or other private information without permission.
Because we need to protect our school's tax-exempt status, this site may not be used for solicitation of funds for political candidates.
Advertisements of non-JCDS events and services are permitted at the discretion of the moderators. When submitting them, please include an explanation of why you think the event is of particular interest to the JCDS community.

Indemnification

You are legally responsible for what you write. By participating in JCDSnet, you agree to indemnify its creators, operators and moderators against any liability arising from any breach of confidentiality, defamation, libel, obscenity, copyright or other intellectual property right, and against all damages, losses, claims and costs (including without limitation, all expenses incurred in conducting or defending any proceedings) arising from any such publication.
